Generation CFO’s Media Page

Who are Generation CFO?

The goal of Generation CFO is to make current and future CFOs the heroes of the next generation of sustainable, high-performing businesses.

We do this by creating a content-driven and experience-rich community, where ambitious finance professionals can harness and leverage the power of people, data and digital.

We seek to be impactful, current and provocative. Our community and the knowledge they are provided with from Generation CFO is practical, inclusive, credible and relevant.

We believe that to acquire technical and non-technical data and digital skills, individuals must practice continuous, dynamic learning and business collaboration. This is fundamentally inconsistent with the ordered culture, fixed mindset and narrow accounting-based learning associated with the accounting and finance profession.

For business to thrive in the future, there must be an alternative: A knowledge-powered community, where ambitious, big-thinking CFOs can go to learn about the boundless possibilities of people, data and digital, without constraints. That is Generation CFO.

We are recognised by all major accounting institutions as the market leader in digital education for the accounting and finance digital industry.

We have worked with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ).

Media Biography for Chris Argent, Managing Director and Founder of Generation CFO

Frustrated by poor systems, poor reporting and lack of time to work within the finance industry, in 2009, Chris Argent set up a LinkedIn group looking for technology-minded accountants and finance professionals to help him out.

After moving from SME CFO to Enterprise Finance Transformation Lead, Chris experienced advanced technology being used first-hand and saw massive potential.

The demand for digital transformation and strategic finance business partnering continued to grow, and Chris believed pressure will be applied to CFOs to create a more data-rich, digital finance function.

He started to add content posted on his LinkedIn group onto his blog, Generation CFO. The aim was to bring digital native innovators in accounting together with the senior finance leadership change makers.

Chris saw the need for a unifying framework that could bring together traditional accounting and finance and the new data-enabled digital finance function. So, he developed the Digital Finance Function Model (DFFM), initiated events, podcasts and networking meetups to establish GenerationCFO.com as the go-to platform.

Today, Generation CFO is a community of over 100,000 members – and growing rapidly. We produce experiences, content and thought-leadership interviews on The Shift. By keeping accounting and finance professionals at the cutting-edge of finance function, we are creating heroes of the current and next generation.
