You came, you saw, you connected… Thank you!

Last month was huge for Generation CFO and me personally, not only did we land our flagship events, Generation CFO Live and the Digital Finance Function Awards but it marked the end of a transformation journey for me personally.

As many of you know, I started out as an SME FD, then moved into finance transformation at some leading companies, including: Amazon, Vodafone and John Lewis Partnership, before setting up Generation CFO for the finance community.

Needless to say, I am not an event professional, a digital marketeer, nor an editor, but I was up for the challenge as I wanted to bring traditional finance teams and digital finance together and I was prepared to jump in feet first to do this.

Believing fully in a growth mindset, an agile process and the emerging markets of accounting and finance process automation and AI, and particularly its use in data analytics. We’ve tried, failed, tested and learnt for two years to get Generation CFO where it is today, and #GENCFOLive and #DFFAwards was the cherry on top.

This innovation was not without its risks and challenges, did someone say pandemic? But, by focusing on growth, agility and partnerships we have thrived in our remote, digital world, and I am incredibly proud of the community and the team of people who have made this happen.

Looking at the Summit data (I love data!), over a 7-day period before and after the event, we witnessed a community in action with over 100,000 interactions, 40,000 page views from an audience of 7,000. This is mind-blowing, and what we call FiMIND!

My personal highlight included presenting the NHS SBS “Team of the Year” for some incredible work, including examples of finance automation and agility during an incredibly tough year. Another high point included, hosting Louise Burke, CEO, Open Data Institute, also a qualified accountant, who discussed data literacy in business, something we all need to get our heads around. Last but not least, the excellent Masterclass sessions on day two, by six eminent finance leaders covering top themes and trends to support us in a post-pandemic digital world!

So what next?

Well, as is the custom during any transformation, we are going to have a party to celebrate our progress and I look forward to welcoming back the London community this summer, which will be part of a growing calendar of events, including community meetups, tech-focused presentations, analyst clinics and a possible bootcamp or two.

So here is to another 12 months of growth and I look forward to seeing you on this journey!
