It is generally accepted that the accounting and finance profession is/will be going through a step change in its ways of working, due to automation technology change, but past experience of ERP, EPM and Business Intelligence change projects may suggest another period of chaos is on the way, before the calm and control.

Is automation change the same type of tech change?
RPA and automation is possibly a welcome change to some finance professionals because a process which is a good match for automation will be replacing the human “keystrokes” with an application or robot, and the inherent process control remains the same.  Yes, there is a technical risk of the robot working, but this type of change is fundamentally different.
