As the world of data analytics and all its components start to merge with finance, should we be picking up these skills?

Whether it is about distilling big data in to insights, machine learning forecast or plain old data visualisation, its hard not to see the benefit of learning these skills, or at least employing someone in your team that has them!

  1. I believe that you must need to develop skills to understand Big Data as a finance professional however, learning programming language like R or Phython depends upon the career level.
    If you have post qualifications experience ranging in between 0-5 you should go to acquire these skills otherwise focus on strategic use of Data.

  2. Thanks for your post Khurram, I could argue this both ways… is there value in it, absolutely, it there time and a clear ROI, maybe. Its a bit of a build or buy investment decision. That said, even if we dont lean coding, we do need to know the art of the possible!
